This African Wild Cat is an elusive creature to spot in Kruger National Park, South Africa. While this cat is listed as being of “Least Concern” on the IUCN Red List, it faces the threat of breeding with domestic cats. This occurs more frequently around rural areas where domestic cats are housed. This can lead to hybrid cats being born in the wild as well as in households, resulting in a contaminated gene pool.
